Updated 2016 Lexus GS

The refreshed 2016 Lexus GS has just been introduced during Monterey Car Week 2015. While the changes are only minor, they are still noteworthy.

For starters, the facelifted GS is now available in GS 200t specification. As the name implies, this new variation is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering a total of 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Mated to this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. It joins the NX and IS as the marque’s three models currently available with this turbocharged engine.

Elsewhere, power from the Lexus GS 350’s 3.5-litre V6 has been increased from 306 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque to 311 hp and 280 lb-ft.

From a visual standpoint, the 2016 GS range incorporates a redesigned front fascia as well as bi-LED headlights as standard. Also found across the new car’s exterior is a different front bumper, modified rocker panels, new 18-inch and 19-inch wheel designs as well as revised taillights.

From a technology standpoint, the facelifted GS comes standard with 10 airbags as well as numerous other safety features. These include the Lexus Safety System + combining a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist and a dynamic radar cruise control system.
