Ahead of the Bentley Bentayga’s launch at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2015, images of a scale model have leaked online.

These pictures come courtesy of China and show the luxury crossover in 1:18 model form. Models like this are handed out to the media, dealers and VIP customers at the launch of a new car and are produced by toy factories in China. As such, they give us a good idea how the finished product will look.

Although its basic blueprint is inspired by the Bentley EXP 9 F concept, showcased at the Geneva Auto Show 2012, the actual design is much more conventional Bentley. The headlamps and the front grille are inspired by Bentley’s Flying Spur models. Elsewhere, there’s chrome wheels and chrome elements on the windows and around the large taillights. The model in the leaked pictures also has a double-sunroof as well as oval-shaped exhaust pipes. The interior of this model features beige leather but of course, the cabin of the Bentayga will be completely customisable.

The Bentayga will be underpinned by Volkswagen’s MLB Evo platform that will be used in the upcoming generations of the Audi Q7 and the Audi A8 as well. Engine options remain far unconfirmed but it is speculated that the firm’s customary 6.0-litre W12 will be available as well as twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 and a diesel. That diesel is speculated to be the 4.2-litre V8 available for the recently released 2015 Audi Q7. Additionally, a plug-in hybrid version will be offered at a later stage.
