Preview: Parco Valentino Salone & Gran Premio 2015

The 2015 Parco Valentino Salone & Gran Premio is set to put back an Italian Motor Show on the global calendar. Taking place on June 14, the event comprises of both a conventional motor show and grand parade featuring the best of class cars from past to present.

Parco Valentino Salone is the main car show, it will be an open-air car show where supercars, historic cars and coachbuilders will be displayed on podiums surrounded by nature at the Parco del Valentino in Turin. Manufacturers will be joined by coachbuilders such as Pininfarina, Giugiaro, Stola, Zagato, I.DE.A. Institute and UP Design. Their aim is to mirror car shows of the early 1900s.

The Grand Premio on the other hand will be a parade of the most eccentric cars on the streets of Turin. The cars will drive from from Parco del Valentino to Reggia di Venaria for a distance of 18 km. Participants of this grand parade will include car manufacturers, car clubs and private collectors.

The event comes at a time when Turin assumes a major role as the European Capital of Sport. The city is also vying to be Unesco’s Creative City for the automotive design. The organizers expect over 300,000 spectators on this day.
