Official: 2016 Dodge Viper ACR

The Dodge Viper ACR (American Club Racing) is legendary in Dodge Viper circles. The brand new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is expected to attract the same sort of following. As the next chapter in Dodge and SRT’s American hand-built, street-legal race car, the ACR will be made available to select customers and in exclusive numbers. So exclusive in fact that Dodge will offer “1 of 1” customisation options for its new supercar!

Now to the numbers! The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR gets an 8.4 litre V10 engine. In ACR spec it produces 645 hp and 600 lb.-ft of torque which Dodge claim is the most torque of any naturally aspirated sports-car engine in the world. As you would expect, the ACR is lightweight with lightweight carpet, minimal three speaker audio and manual seats.

The Dodge Viper ACR gets significant revised aerodynamic and suspension upgrades, new carbon ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers and high-performance tires specifically designed for ACR. Performance is also dramatically improved and the Dodge Viper ACR is expected to deliver blistering lap times; remember, its predecessor set a 7:12.13 Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time.

The ACR Extreme Aero Package delivers nearly 1 ton of peak downforce at top speed. It includes a massive adjustable dual-element carbon fiber rear wing, rear carbon fiber diffuser, unique SRT hood with removable louvers, detachable extensions for the front splitter and additional dive planes.

The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR brakes are uprated to fade resistant Brembo carbon ceramic matrix 15-inch two-piece rotors and six-piston front callipers. The suspension components are Bilstein and include unique 10-setting, double-adjustable, coil-over racing shocks. The ride height can be adjusted by up to 3 inches for fine tuning corner weight.

Dodge are making a lot of noise about the new Kumho Ecsta V720 high-performance tires. They measure 295/25/19 at the front and 355/30/19 at the rear. They have been designed specifically for the Dodge Viper ACR and should allow 1.5 g cornering during high-speed turns.

Production of the hand-built 2016 Dodge Viper ACR begins in Detroit in the third quarter of 2015. Hopefully before long the Dodge Viper ACR will be lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife, setting quick times. Once performance figures, availability and pricing are known, we will update you.
