Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept at the Shanghai Motor Show 2015

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept was the star attraction at the Shanghai Motor Show 2015 for Mercedes-Benz. The concept debuts a potential BMW X4 rival for the German brand. We say potential but it looks almost certain that a Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe will be offered for sale at some point during the next year. We took a closer look at the SUV!

As the name suggests, the GLC Coupe is C-Class sized. It will be joined by a non-Coupe version (essentially a rival for the X3). As with the BMW models to which the GLC Coupe will undoubtedly be compared, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept gets SUV proportions with coupe styling. Mercedes-Benz added 21 inch wheels, raised ride height and a large grille to emphasise the proportions.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. It produces 362 bhp which powers all four wheels through a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic gearbox. When the production version emerges, expect engines to closely follow those on offer for the C-Class, hopefully with a hardcore GLC 63 AMG Coupe.

Elsewhere, LED headlamps shape the face of the GLC Coupe whereas, Lexus-style slanted tailpipes define the rear of the Concept. Hopefully the tailpipes are changed for more conventional units. Hopefully we will see a production version of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept very soon!
