Not too long ago, reports emerged suggesting that the Infiniti Q60 could make use of two Mercedes-Benz sourced engines. New information has just emerged however suggesting that instead, a brand new twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 developed in-house by Infiniti will find its way into the production-spec Q60.

It is suggested that this brand new engine will be capable of delivering 400 hp in standard specification but could be uprated to the 450 hp mark for the American automaker’s BMW M3 and M4 rivalling Q60 variant. A round figure of 450 hp would also match the Cadillac ATS-V.

Previous reports indicated that the twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 from the Mercedes-Benz E400 would find its way into the Infiniti Q60 with 330 hp but the Infiniti spokesman Auto Guide interviewed revealed that won’t be the case.

Design wise, the Infiniti Q60 Concept was inspired by the Q80 Inspiration Concept. As a result, it features similar flowing lines alongside a menacing and bold front fascia. As the car has been designed as a sporty, 2+2 coupe, Infiniti designers also focused heavily on the car’s cabin. With that in mind, sport seats have been installed for front and rear occupants alongside a variety of different quilted leathers.

When the road-going Infiniti Q60, it will likely adopt a more restrained design but is expected to be just as head-turning as other current Infiniti models.
