Audi A4

The new Audi A4 has been spied testing in the depths of winter under camouflage. While the German marque is doing its utmost to conceal the car, quite a few details about the new Audi A4 are already known.

First and foremost, the design of the new Audi A4 will be inspired by the Audi Prologue Concept unveiled at last November’s Los Angeles Auto Show. With that in mind, it should be one of the first new Audi products to adopt the redesigned front grille which will be significantly wider and more slimlined than the current single-frame grille.

Elsewhere on a styling front, the next-generation Audi A4 will continue the German firm’s ongoing push to sharpen up the lines of its cars. With that in mind, the headlights and taillights will be sharper and utilise more aggressive corners and edges than the current units utilised.

From a powertrain standpoint, a selection of turbocharged diesel and petrol engines will be offered. Most significantly however will be the inclusion of a plug-in hybrid variant set to rival the 3-Series plug-in hybrid and C-Class plug-in hybrid models currently being developed.

Underpinning the next-generation A4 will be the second-gen MLB platform. This new platform will be extremely scalable and will weigh significantly less than the current architecture thanks to its use of aluminium and steel.
