Is This The 2015 Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary?

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the truly legendary Ford Mustang. To help commemorate this special milestone, Ford has long been rumored to be creating a special 50th Anniversary Edition of the latest generation Mustang. Now the very first spyshots of such a Mustang have emerged.

Obviously based on the current range-topping Ford Mustang GT, this prototype can be distinguished from the regular Mustang GT thanks to a few visual modifications. Most noticeably, the front grille has been slightly tweaked with a new surround around the Mustang badge also present.

Additionally, it is believed that rear louvers are being hidden by light camouflage at the rear quarter windows and hiding behind the wheels are black Brembo brake calipers.

Under the hood, we expect the Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary Edition to remain the same as the standard Mustang GT. What that means is that it’ll receive the same 5.0-liter V8 engine delivering an equal 420 hp and 390 b-ft of torque. This engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a reworked automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.

However, some suggestions speculate that the 50th Anniversary Edition could actually come in 4-cylinder turbo, V6 and V8 guises.

Whatever the case may be, we expect to find out once and for all at the upcoming New York Auto Show 2014 next month.
