With the release of the highly anticipated 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z06 just days away, new information has leaked online suggesting it’ll be even more powerful than previously thought.
According to the latest speculation, the new C7 Corvette Z06 will deliver an incredible 620 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque! By comparison, the last generation Corvette Z06 featured a massive 7.0-liter V8 producing ‘just’ 505 hp. Despite this, the old Z06 could still reach 100 km/h in the mid-three second range thanks in part to its extraordinarily long gearing enabling it to hit 100 km/h in first gear.
However, with 620 hp and 650 lb-ft on tap, the new 2015 Corvette Stingray Z06 will be even faster and most likely quicker than even the C6 ZR1 which featured a brutal 640 hp supercharged V8.
While we may now know the power developed by the latest Z06’s engine, we still don’t know what that engine will be. The latest speculation about the C7 Z06 has suggested it could feature a single turbocharged or maybe a twin-turbocharged 4.5-liter V8. Others claim that it will be a brand new 7.0-liter V8 unit. However, in our eyes a 6.2-liter V8 supercharged engine is much more likely. Back in early October, an image appeared online reportedly showcasing a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine and said to be utilised in the upcoming C7 Corvette Z06.
Only time will tell, and with the official reveal to be streamed live, we won’t have to wait very long!
I will take the C6 ZR1,over C7 ZO6.The C7 has to many vents,and tail section plain ugly,insde of C7 cluttered with to many gadgets.The C7 zo6,may be faster 0-60,than the ZR1,but quarter mile&top speed,ZR1 will still be king.We will see when,performance numbers,start to appear.SA.
