First Bentley Continental GT3 Customer Team Confirmed

The very first customer team for the Bentley Continental GT3 race car has been confirmed as David Appleby Engineering. The motorsports team will run the Bentley Continental GT in next year’s British GT Championship and racing as Generation Bentley Racing.

Behind the wheel of the team’s Continental GT3 will be James Appleby and Steve Tandy both of which very successful racing careers. Tandy has previously competed in the British GT Championship while Appleby was once a junior in the works Aston Martin Racing team. As a reminder, the 2014 Continental GT Championship kicks off on April 19 meaning we won’t have to wait too long to see the GT3 competing!

For those that can’t wait long, the official Bentley Motorsports Continental GT3 racer will have its racing debut on December 13th at the Gulf 12 Hours at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. This will be the first time the car enters a competition since its launch in September 2012. Likewise, this will be the first time Bentley hits the track since its last win at Le Mans 24 Hours in 2003.

Under the hood, the Bentley Continental GT3 features a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine mated to a six-speed sequential transmission. Additionally, it features double wishbone suspension with four-way adjustable dampers.
