2013 SRT Viper Drag Races Mighty McLaren 12C

With 616 hp on tap, the mighty McLaren 12C has made a real name for itself as of late as a supercar punching well above its weight, or horsepower in this case. In fact, down the quarter mile, the McLaren 12C is almost as fast as the 987 hp Bugatti Veyron and off the line, it isn’t all that much slower than the 700 hp Lamborghini Aventador and on paper, can match the 730 hp Ferrari F12 Berlinetta from the sprint to zero to 100 km/h.

So obviously, the McLaren 12C has some impressive electronics to make it so fast off the line. However, how will it perform against a stock 2013 SRT Viper in a rolling drag race? Well in the following video, it performs very well and actually defeats the more powerful Viper quite comfortably.

This is very impressive considering that the 2013 SRT Viper has an 8.4-liter V10 engine while the McLaren 12C has a 3.8-liter V8. However, the 12C’s engine has been topped off with two turbochargers adding huge amounts of torque helping it to storm to victory. Additionally, the quick shifting double-clutch transmission of the 12C seems to have helped in this race with the slower manual gearbox of the Viper obviously hurting its acceleration.
