The Mercedes SL63 AMG has not been designed to carve up the road delicately and fluently like a Ferrari California but to bludgeon it into submission with a sledgehammer. Like many AMG’s extreme power and enough torque to make planets spin faster steal the headlines.
The car you see pictured in this story features a few minor modifications that we will address a little later, but there is one option that the owner selected that turns the lunacy of this SL63 up to 11. The apty named and very pricey ‘Performance Package’. What this means is that the 5.5 Litre V8 produces an handsome 564hp and a looney 663 pound-feet of torque. The comparatively weak Ferrari California produces just 372 pound-feet.
This rather striking car has had a little cosmetic work and some additional technology that will help keep it’s owner out of trouble…and a jail cell. As you can see certain parts have been wrapped/painted red and trim pieces in black. A clear bra has been applied and inside both a Bell laser jammer and Escort radar detector have been added!
