In what can only be described as one of the most horrific motorsport crashes in recent memory, Dario Franchitti and 13 spectators were left injured during the Houston Grand Prix.
Heading into a slight right-hander, Franchitti’s car hit the rear of a competitor and rocketed towards the fence. The crash was at such high-speed that the front-end of Franchitti’s IndyCar was completely destroyed. Much of the debris then flew into the crowd thus injuring 13 spectators.
The crash left Franchitti with two broken vertebrae, a fractured ankle while also leaving him with a concussion.
