Filipino Man Purchases $750K Ferrari F12 for Chance to own LaFerrari

When it comes to finding owners for the 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari, the Italian manufacturer understandably won’t accept orders from everyone. Even if you have the money for the revolutionary LaFerrari hypercar, Ferrari stipulates that for any prospective buyers to be given an opportunity to receive one of 499 LaFerraris, they must have a collection of at least five other Ferraris.

So what do you do if you have a lot of spare money, a modest Ferrari collection of less than five and desperately want a LaFerrari? Well, you purchase another Ferrari just to have the chance of being accepted to take delivery of a LaFerrari! That’s apparently what happened in the Philippines recently with a man taking delivery of the first Ferrari F12 Berlinetta in the Philippines to grow his collection into the acceptable range for the executives at Maranello.

However, rather than purchasing a base Ferrari California, the cheapest Ferrari currently on sale, the man shelled out the equivalent of $750,000 USD on Ferrari’s current halo-supercar, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Powered by a 730hp 6.0-liter V12 engine, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is an impressive Italian supercar in its own right, but obviously it’s overshadowed by the LaFerrari which delivers over 900hp from its hybrid engine.

The most amazing thing about this story is that there’s still no guarantee the Filipino will be accepted to purchase the LaFerrari! If he isn’t, at least he has a brand new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta to wash away his sorrows with.
