DTM Spielberg Round

Spielberg, June 2, 2013. BMW scooped an immaculate one, two and three finish during the third round of the DTM race this season at the Red Bull Ring Spielberg, Austria. They had qualified first and second on Saturday with Bruno Spengler and Marco Wittmann while Augusto Farfus qualified fourth.

Well, they had tasted victory ahead of the race itself, on Sunday the tri-win was set by Schnitzer driver Bruno Spengler in the lead, MTEK BMW drivers Marco Wittmann and ex-Formula-1 racer Timo Glock closed in second and third respectively. It was not tough for Bruno; his first win of the season saw him lead from start but would lose the lead at the pit stops. He regained it once more and headed for the win.

The battle was left for the two MTEK BMW drivers Marco Wittmann and ex-Formula-1 racer Timo Glock, Timo was in the lead perfectly, jumping from 11th to second on soft tires. He was surely going to get his first DTM win but he lost time while changing his front-left wheel in the second stop, as a result, Marco passed him. Timo was good for a podium finish however, and that was the trio-win.

DTM Spielberg Round

As for Audi, it was Mike Rockenfeller and Mattias Ekstrom who would give the closest sense of victory in this race; they finished fourth and fifth respectively. Augusto Farfus finished sixth in the RBM BMW while Mercedes would only taste victory at a far 7th position with Christian Vietoris.
