Official: 2014 Porsche 911 50 Years Edition

In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Porsche 911, Porsche has just taken the wraps off a very special commemorative model dubbed the 2014 Porsche 911 50 Years Edition. The car is based on the 395hp Porsche 911 Carrera S and features a selection of modern and retro design elements to pay homage to the legacy of the Porsche 911.

Just 1963 units of the 2014 Porsche 911 50 Years Edition will be created, with that number marking the year 1963 when the Porsche 911 was first created. From a styling standpoint, the 2014 Porsche 911 50 Years Edition features a wider body seen on the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 4S as well as classic Fuchs style wheels, redesigned wing mirrors, special badges and chrome trim.

The changes found on the 2014 Porsche 911 50 Years Edition then continue on into the interior with the car featuring green dials with white needles and fabric seats similar to those featured on Porsche 911’s from the 1960’s. Furthermore, the car then features brushed aluminium inlays on the dashboard, door cards, center console and transmission surround.

Under the hood, the 2014 Porsche 911 50 Years Edition features the same 395hp flat-six engine as the standard Porsche 911 Carrera S. This engine is then mated to either a seven-speed manual transmission capable of launching the 2014 Porsche 911 50 Years Edition to 62mph in just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 186mph, or a dual-clutch PDK automatic system sending the car to 62mph in 4.3 seconds and 185mph.

The 2014 Porsche 911 50 Years Edition is currently available for order with first UK deliveries to begin in September.
