Upgraded Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution II to Tackle Pikes Peak 2013

After storming home in second place for the electric vehicle class at the Pikes Peak international Hillclimb 2012, Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV Evolution has undergone a transformation ahead of this year’s event.

Last year, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV Evolution completed the ‘race to the clouds’ in just 10 minutes and 31 seconds thanks to its lightweight body and 321hp engine. However, Mitsubishi’s latest hillclimber and successor to the original i-MiEV Evolution is set to step things up a notch.

First and foremost, the new car, dubbed the Mitsubishi i-MiEV Evolution II now pumps out an insane 536hp! Additionally, the 2013-specification Mitsubishi i-MiEV Evolution II features a selection of aerodynamic improvements for added downforce, most notably with the inclusion of a massive rear wing.

Mitsubishi has high hopes for the Mitsubishi i-MiEV Evolution II and believes that it can battle the big players, like Sebastien Loeb’s Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak for top honors at the annual hillclimbing event.

Further improvements made to the new Mitsubishi i-MiEV Evolution II compared to last year’s entrant is the addition of Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control system and the new layout of two electric motors at the front and two electric motors at the rear.

The current Pikes Peak International Hillclimb record was set by Rhys Millen in 2012 at 9 minutes and 46 seconds.
