Detroit Electric Working on Brand new Electric Sports car

After going out of business more than 70 years ago, American based Detroit Electric is set for a dramatic revitalisation which will see the car company return to the Motor City with a brand new all-electric sports car.

Details about the upcoming sports car have yet to be released, but the company has released the following teaser image of the car which showcases what could only be described as a clear Lotus Elise lookalike.

Nevertheless, the sports car is set to be unveiled at Detroit Electric’s new headquarters in the Fisher Building in early April, before an official reveal at the Shanghai Motor Show on April 20th.

If all goes well, Detroit Electric hopes that production of the car will start in August 2013, with 2,500 units planned to be produced annually.
