It was the year 1928 when Mr. Allen Swift received a 1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly P1 Roadster as a graduation gift from his father. During more than seven decades he clocked more than 170,000 miles and maintained the car accordingly. At the age of sixty years, the soft-top convertible received an engine rebuild and a full body restoration.
Seven years ago, Mr. Swift died but before he passed away he took care of the car´s future preservation while he donated 1,000,000$ to the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History to open up an exhibition to take very good care of the car. The vehicle is now being showcased in the museum’s Transportation Collection.
I dont think you’ll ever see a modern day vehicle ever being kept for that length of time. Or, last 70 years and 170k
I’ll take a Roller for my graduation present, too, where’s mine?
