It is no secret that Italian automaker Alfa Romeo is hard at work on its upcoming 4C. Today, the first in a sure to be long line of teasers was released in the form of a festive, holiday themed greeting card. And with that, the endless stream of teasers has begun.

The Alfa Romeo 4C is expected to go on sale in the United States in early 2014, with an official unveiling due at or around the time of next year’s Geneva Motor Show. Expect the 4C to look nearly identical to the concept shown by Alfa at last year’s Geneva Motor Show – a turbocharged 4cylinder producing a hair shy of 300 hp.

The concept car that was displayed early last year utilized carbon fiber construction in much of the bodywork. The production model, in order to avoid the astronomical production costs associated with carbon fiber, will ship with altered aluminum exterior panels.

While this has not been officially confirmed, the smart money points to the 4C accomplishing Alfa’s goal of producing a sub-2000 pound car. Current speculation points to a weight of 1980 pounds give or take. We’ll keep you updated with all the news of Alfa’s latest mid-engine sports car as we get closer to its unveiling.
