After Investindustrial recently acquired a 37.5 percent stake in Aston Martin, changes were inevitable within the British company and the most dramatic change could involve Aston Martin sourcing engines from AMG in the future.

As most of you will already know, Investindustrial used to own Ducati, which at one stage formed a close relationship with Mercedes’ in-house tuning arm, AMG. As a result, some of these connections have been maintained into Investindustrial’s latest affiliation with Aston Martin and sourcing AMG engines could be cheaper and more effective in helping to secure the future of Aston Martin for decades to come.

The current 6.0 liter V12 engine which is fitted into every single Aston Martin road-car, except the V8 Vantage and exclusive One-77, is a Ford Duratec engine, so moving to AMG engines could be considered as a step in the right direction to produce more efficient engines in the future which maintain the traditional characteristics of all Aston’s V12 powered supercars.

After all, AMG is a well-renowned engine builder and was the firm responsible for creating the 7.3 liter V12 engine fitted to the Pagani Zonda and more recently, developed and fitted the 6.0 liter twin-turbocharged V12 for its successor, the Pagani Huayra.
