McLaren Automotive released a teaser image of their long-awaited new supercar, codenamed the P1. McLaren didn’t specifically mention the supercar in its press release, announcing that they will unveil ‘the next exciting chapter of the brand’, however, we suspect this will be the P1. The picture reveals a streamlined, ghostly figure accentuated by long light strips that curve around the bodywork. It’s a clever teaser picture that reveals just enough to get us excited!

McLaren will be hoping that the P1 continues on from the successful MP4-12C. It will be a hypercar with a completely different focus though. Built to compete with the upcoming Enzo replacement and the 918 Spyder, the McLaren P1 will be limited to just 500 bespoke copies. The P1 will use the monocell rolling chassis that underpins the MP4-12C along with the same 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8. The car will be an extreme technical masterpiece in terms of performance, aerodynamics and aesthetics.

Interestly, the teasers reveal a very curvy design. You can also clearly see a roof intake which evokes images of the historic McLaren F1 and a couple of bonnet vents. We’re told that a few customers will get to see the car in eight days. However, you’ll need to check back on Thursday 27 September for full details as we will be attending the official unveiling at the Paris Motor Show!
