Car manufacturers have always had to take keen interest to the type of layout they offer to the market. Lamborghini plans to launch the successor to the Gallardo in 2014 and from what Michael Lock of Lamborghini America says, the new car will vary from previous model names and variants that are currently in use. The successor will also come with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, no manual transmission intended as of now.

He says the successor is aimed at giving customers a reasonable financial course with the choice of rear- and all-wheel drive. Lock also said that both configurations will be available for the Gallardo because some buyers buy all-wheel-drive with absolute surety at the same time other buyers are willing to buy the rear wheel drive with the power sent to the back of the car. This means they are not leaving anyone out.

Lamborghini has also said it has no plans to adopt the new trend where luxury car manufacturers are adopting smaller displacement motors and utilizing turbochargers to maintain power levels while boosting fuel efficiency. The only reduction change will be in the variants.

But let’s face it, how many consumers are able to precisely choose amongst the Superleggera, Spyder Performante, LP 560-4 Spyder, LP 550-2 Spyder, Super Trofeo Stradale, Gallardo Bicolore? So what Lamborghini will do is retain the coupes, convertibles, all-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and lighter-weight models in the Gallardo but reduce the variants to avoid confusing the customers.
