Amari Supercars recently listed a 1988 Italdesign Aztec Concept for sale. It’s not been looked after, having been stored in a barn for many years. The neglect means that it needs a lot of work doing to it. Something that Amari intended to do, however, they’ve been so busy that they haven’t found the time for it! Instead, they want it to go to somebody who has the time and the money to see it restored and back running again.

Italian design house Italdesign originally built the Aztec Concept to celebrate 25 years in business. It was a bold design in its day. Styling wise, the car featured dual cockpits that physically separated driver and passenger, a bit like we recently saw with the Lamborghini Concept S. It had a removable roof for driving in all weather conditions and a comfortable interior befitting of its $750,000.

As far as mechanical parts go, the Aztec originally featured an Audi 2.2 liter turbo engine with 200hp. In this particular Aztec, that engine had stopped working so Amari fitted an Audi 3.7 V8, presumably from the Audi A8. To this, they coupled an automatic gearbox with all the ECU adjustments. It still features the original four wheel drive system taken from the Lancia Delta Integrale.

Only eighteen were ever built, fewer remain today although exact numbers are not available. This is the only car in the United Kingdom. The car hasn’t been price but we’re told that Amari are open to all reasonable offers.
