One of the most iconic racing cars ever built is about to be auctioned. The Ford GT40 Series I which will be offered is widely regarded as one of the most original GT40s in existence.
The first generation Ford GT40 Mk I is one of just 31 production GT40 road cars. The street-legal version of the famous racer who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times in a row was built in 1967. This GT40 was initially used by Shelby and Ford as a display car and had only two private owners from new. It carriers 7675km (4769 miles), making it “without a doubt one of, if not the lowest mileage GT40s in the world today.”
The GT40 will be will be auctioned by RM Auctions during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this August. The Ford in “time-capsule condition” is expected to fetch $2,300,000 to $2,700,000. For more information visit the RM Auctions.
