Porsche Macan Spyshot

The Porsche Macan has been spotted almost completely undisguised. The entry-level Porsche SUV was captured by Auto Motor Und Sport testing on public roads. The spyshots reveal a lower, sleeker and smaller SUV taking elements of design from the highly successful Porsche Cayenne. It is expect to compete with the current BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Range Rover Evoque.

Expect the Porsche Macan to use the Audi Q5 as its base. Engines will range from a 3.0 liter diesel engine producing 240bhp and 550Nm of torque to a choice between a 2.0 liter TFSI and a supercharged 3.0 liter petrol engine producing 333bhp. It will be four wheel drive with a seven-speed manual as standard or an optional seven-speed, dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission. Porsche will price the model around the 40,000 euro mark.

With production set to begin in Leipzig in 2013, the Macan represents an investment of 500 million euros, one of the biggest building projects in Porsche’s history. It should help to create more than 1,000 new jobs. It will be built on a production line next to the Cayenne and the Panamera.
