Audi of America has released a limited edition of their Audi S5, saying farewell to the V8-powered S5 model series. The Audi S5 4.2 Special Edition marks the last and best of breed of the V8-powered S5 coupe.

Barry Hoch, Audi of America’s A4/S4/A5/S5/RS 5 product planner, came up with the idea of the limited special edition. Only 125 examples of the car will be built with choice of either a six-speed manual transmission of tiptronic automatic. Each of the 125 units will be painted in Daytona Grey, previously a color reserved only for RS models or special build cars from Audi Exclusive. The limited S5 rides on 19 inch five-spoke Rotor design wheels.

On the inside, you get bi-color Polar Silver and Black S5 sport seats standard. Silver contrast stitching on the seats, armrests, shifter and steering wheel are complemented with floor mats featuring a silver leather border and aluminum Audi Exclusive badges mounted on the door panels. The wider weave carbon fiber beltline trim and piano black instrument cluster finish off the interior.

Audi chose to reveal details and photos of the S5 special edition at this year’s Audi Club North America meeting held at Infineon Raceway. Pricing is $ 68,700 for the S5 4.2 Special Edition quattro manual and the S5 4.2 Special Edition quattro tiptronic goes for $ 69,900. Both prices are excluding destination and taxes.
