MotorAuthority spy photographers have caught the BMW M6 Gran Coupe out testing near the companies headquarters in Germany. The M6 Gran Coupe will debut later this year following the expected release of the two-door BMW M6 at the Geneva Auto Salon in March. It should provide fresh competition for the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG, a model which has had the market to itself since introduction.

We expect the M6 to share the same M-tuned 4.4 liter turbo V8 found in the new M5 except with a 40hp power hike to 600hp. In order to differentiate the two cars, expect the M6 Gran Coupe to feature a much higher price tag than the M5. It should have a seven-speed M DCT dual-clutch gearbox and a set of M-Division suspension upgrades as well as a complete aero dynamic upgrade. This will include a new rear bumper, rear diffuser, side skirts, massive wheels, quad exhausts, and a new front bumper.

The photos show that development of the car is coming along nicely. The traditional BMW artistic camouflage hides the bulk of the changes, however, we can clearly see the quad exhausts, modified bodywork and five-spoke alloy wheels. For more photos head over to MotorAuthority.
