Automotive photographer Chris Grosser had the very rare opportunity to photograph and visit the DeLorean Motor Company in Bonita Springs, Florida.

They are one of a small handful of DeLorean dealers and restoration shops within the world. Even better, they have the only DeLorean DMC-12 prototype in existence. According to his experience this shop is literally DeLorean heaven.

I literally stumbled upon this location by complete accident! I drove by and out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a whole fleet of DeLoreans sitting behind this inconspicuous building! I was sold. I walked into the showroom five minutes before closing time and struck up a conversation with a very kind employee. Unfortunately, the only photography gear that I had come with for this completely impromptu opportunity was my iPhone. I knew that I had to come back another day with my real camera gear to take some photos of these futuristic cars. With that said, I was there the next morning! I was given an unheard of opportunity to get up close and personal with these historic cars. One of the DeLoreans that I photographed, the DeLorean DMC-12, is actually a prototype and one of the very last cars of its type in existence – talk about rare. It can be distinguished from the others with its DMC-12 badges.

While these cars are all over thirty years old, the company does a magnificent job of restoring them to factory finish and detail. I feel privileged and lucky to not only have spotted these cars by complete luck, but also to have had the opportunity to spend some time with them as well. This opportunity was truly as close to an automotive enthusiast’s heaven / barn find as you can possibly imagine. The prototype was caked in dust from being in storage but after a quick wipe down, it looked absolutely pristine. In their storage facility, I was completely surrounded by random engines, components, doors etc. from DeLoreans past – unbelievably cool to see in person.
