Deliveries of the much-awaited McLaren MP4-12C have started state-side. Drake Mumford managed to capture three over the space of two days in the Los Angeles area. He managed to capture a short video including a walk-around and a few exhaust noises of the US-spec supercars. Deliveries in the US are later because of the need to pass a different set of emissions and safety tests than those carried out in Europe and elsewhere.

Just to recap; The two seater uses a 3.8 liter twin turbo engine producing 595bhp (441kW) at 7,000rpm and 599Nm (442lb-ft) from 3,000rpm. 479Nm (353lb-ft) is already available from 2,000rpm. It gets a seven-speed double clutch gearbox, weight of only 1,300kg (2,866lbs) and a carbon composite monocoque. McLaren had aimed to release 1,000 MP4-12C’s before the end of 2011, however, we suspect that the final figure is a lot lower due to a series of initial production problems.
