Top Gears Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in Italy

Top Gear Season 17 is about to start in a bit over two weeks on BBC2. Clearly the three presenters are not done shooting the upcoming series yet as our friends at Autoblog.nl report. James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson were spotted in the Italian town of Lucca at the foot of the famous Tuscany hills. The three are accompanied by three small but hot cars; the Citroen DS3 Racing, Fiat 500C Abarth and Renault Clio RS.

Looking towards the upcoming season we can expect the MP4-12C to make its appearance to the track and exactly that car is rumored to have set a new track record. Two times float around a 1.14.118 seconds with the standard MP4-12C that weighs 1,336kg without Pirelli Corsa tires and a 1.12.915 for the MP4-12C with the “Light weight package” and Corsa tires that weighs 1,301kg. For now its only a rumour but if there’s one car that has the potential to break the current record its the McLaren MP4-12C, whether it did we will find out during Top Gear Season 17.
