Audi E-tron Demo at Le Mans 2010

Audi used Le Mans 2010 to promote their new E-tron EV sports car, the 2012 E-tron. The vehicle took part in a demonstration of alternative fuels at the beginning of the 24-hours endurance race. The ‘green’ car in the pictures resembles an Audi R8 V10 without any exhausts pipes at the rear. Following the spyshots shown to you yesterday, it seems that not a lot of development is still needed.

The main reason that the vehicle was brought to Le Mans is because next year the new Le Mans cars from Audi will be outfitted with hybrid systems. In a few year’s time the full series will be hybrid. All concepts in the LMP class will then showcase the future of electric and hybrid drive.

The regulations are changing over the upcoming year’s making sure that the endurance races and Le Mans series are ready for electric and hybrid racing cars.
