Startech IAA 2009

Startech is a new tuner in our line-up and an arm of German tuner Brabus that focuses on upgrading the performance and appearance of US- and UK-built products. We had our first experience with the German tuner at the IAA 2009. Startech has a customization program available for Range Rover, Jaguar, Jeep and Chrysler vehicles. Our interest was mainly focussed on the Jaguar XK and Range Rover packages on display.

Startech offers a small program with several refinements for the Jaguar XK and XKR models. The package includes a LED daytime running lights set, side-wings for the front skirts, front fender air outlet elements and rear skirt lower attachment elements. All three elements are made from carbon fibre.

Custom three-piece 21-inch Monostar J, Diamond Edition forged wheels with mirror polished rim edges will give the British sports car more distinctive looks. The front wheel houses are filled to the max by size 9Jx21 wheels with tires in size 255/30 ZR 21. The rear tires in size 295/25 ZR 21 are mounted on zize 10.5Jx21 wheels. Sport springs are available lowering the XK(R) by some 40mm.

Startech also offers countless leather or Alcantara interior trim combinations. Wood and carbon refinements can be added to the inside. Aluminium pedal pads, scuff plates with illuminated Startech logo and floor mats bordered with color-coordinated leather complete the package.

The second package we spotted included some extras for the Range Rover line-up. LED daytime running lights will be fitted to the front of the car and come in the same color as the door handles and the front grille. Stainless steel sports exhaust tail piper covers will add a minor detail to the rear of the SUV.

Monostar IV alloy wheels feature a combination of grey and polished surfaces with a matte lacquer finish. The size 10Jx22 wheels are outfitted with tires in size 295/35 R22 front and back.

Inside the Range Rover, leather add-ons, wood or carbon trim, aluminium pedal pads and door locking pins can be ordered.

Startech is currently working on a 2010 package for the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. They showed us a preview of what is to come next year. Both packages include an aerodynamic kit, 22-inch wheels, suspension modifications and interiors with leather and Alcantara upholsteries and wood inlays.
