Zenvo ST1

Having started today off with the 2009 SSC Ultimate Aero, we thought wed bring you some information on another insane horsepower car, the 1104bhp Zenvo ST1 Supercar. The Danish company have designed and built this staggering car, to be produced in a limited production run of 15 cars, with speed as the top priority. Their website is so up to date that we can bring you details on almost every aspect of the cars details.

Powered by a Turbocharged and Supercharged V8, the car produces 1,104bhp and 1430nm of torque. Thats more than a Bugatti Veyron! Having both a turbo and supercharger is nothing new, Volkswagen have been using this idea for a while in their TSI models and Lancia used to use it for their Delta S4, but by using this design Zenvo can have both high levels of horsepower and high levels of torque. Theres also the added benefit of increased fuel efficiency, although i believe this will be lower down on Zenvos priorities than it is for VW!

Couple the power output with the cars relatively low weight of 1376kg compared to the Veyrons 2041kg bulk, and it appears we have one of the fastest cars around! Its still not a light as the 1,249kg of the SSC but well forgive it on the basis of its looks. A power to weight ratio of 802bhp per tonne is very impressive and Zenvo claim this could propel the car to 62mph in 3 seconds. Theres a limiter on the top speed to just 233mph (375kph) which we presume is because the design of the car only allows only for this.

The transmission is a trusty 6 speed, oil cooled, manual. Theres no word on an automatic yet but it is early days. Theres also no 4WD system like that we see in the Veyron, however the Ultimate Aero makes do with only RWD much the same way as the Zenvo does so we believe it has the capacity to cope with the power. To convert the power to the road theres a traction control system and a hydraulic limited slip differential.

Moving on to the exterior theres a set of polished aluminium steel exhaust outlet, with a light steel frame and carbon fibre body panels. Hydraulic lift ride height control (for speed bumps) and 19 Front and 20 Rear forged aluminium alloys coupled with a set of Michelin 255/35-19 and 335/30-20. It measures 4.6 metres in length and 2.04 metres in width, its only 1.19 metres tall and has 10.5cm ground clearance.

Now to the suspension, it has double wish-bone suspension which a quick search on Wikipedia suggests are usually considered to have superior dynamic characteristics and load handling capability. Theres a set adjustable gas, hydraulic shock absorbers couple to this all made by Swedish company hlins Racing. The standard disc brakes are available for upgrade to ceramics which we believe customers will find a necessity considering the power and potential value of the cars.

Last but not least, the interior has a huge spec. Theres climate control, cruise control, keyless access with power locking, adjustable seats, leather and alcantara seats and surfaces, CD/MP3/Nav system, racing steering wheel, 3 driving settings and a head-up display including a g-force meter. They can include leather colours of your choice as well as a luggage set and a roll car and 4 point safety harness all for a bit of extra money.

Then were onto money… which at the moment is an unknown. We suspect itll be at least as expensive as an SSC but that doesnt really matter seen as all 15 cars are expected to be sold to customers the company approve of, meaning you cant just walk in and buy one. Enjoy the pictures and let us know what you think of it! Also remember its early days for the company so theres still the chance it wont make it into production.
