Bugatti Veyron Targa

Rumours have been going around for a while but now we were told that Bugatti confirmed the Bugatti Veyron Targa. According to a Volkswagen source, Bugatti will start production of the Bugatti Veyron Targa in 2009. Bugatti’s Georges Keller confirmed that the company is working on a convertible model. We’ve told you before that Bugatti aims to build 80 Bugatti Veyron convertible’s.

As with Audi’s forthcoming R8 Spider, Bugatti is forced to make it with a detachable roof rather than a folding convertible roof due to lack of storage in the rear. The project should be in hands of Webasto, the people who create the roof for the Volkswagen Eos.

  1. Nice car! But it looks like the the front of the car is not in comparision with the back … like the frontwindow is too low for the backpart…

  2. Isn’t this rather strange? Bugatti is losing a lot of money on the Veyron coupĂ© and now they want to produce another one… Am I completely wrong here or what?

  3. As far as I’m aware this is not an official Bugatti render but one made by an automotive magazine or fan.

And regarding the losing money, that might be true for Bugatti itself but overall the Volkswagen group still profits from Bugatti since it lifts the image of the whole brand/group and it has a lot of prestige. And the more vehicles Bugatti builds now the less the loss or the higher the profit per vehicle will be so they might become profitable in the future as long as their production numbers go up.

  4. The veyron works as Des says it does, it profiles what Volkswagen group can do and increases their image working much like a loss leader would do.
